I found a new useful site on Gizmodo for those of you who want to take those amateur photography skills to the next level. Last week I introduced you to a similar site, the Digital Photography School, which I hope you are visiting. They add a new lesson each week.

So here's another site to keep you on your toes—or maybe just on your tripods—and teach you how to take some of those spectacular pictures you can be proud to display on your living room mantle.

Strobist Boot Camp has already begun, but you can still join this free virtual class that will teach you how to use lighting in your photos, and other cool tricks. The instructor has also set up a Flickr group where participants share their work from all around the world, as well as ask each other questions.

Check out the archived posts, they are full of really great information.  The best part of it all, is that you get to practice your photo skills on your family.

Hi Gina, Your write-up is excellent! Natural Light is the BEST ! Available Light Photography gives such a satisfaction, one can't explain! I've been photographing for past 55 years, and have taken over 90,000 photographs, in 34 countries I visited, in Africa, Europe, Asia and America! Started with Glass-Plate Days, and have reached Digital imaging. In days of manual cameras, I had used, 1 second with 1.2f or .95f full open aperture combinations, with no light ! Those pictures were the best! Dramatic Effect. One has to practice. One has to have patience. Try it. Good Luck! God Bless! Warmest Regards. Sincerely P. P. HIRANI Photo-Journalist. -presently in USA.
