The RED iPod is one of my picks as a holiday must-have MP3 player. Steve Jobs has once again surprised us with the announcement of a higher-capacity RED iPod now available in 8GB storing up to 2,000 songs. As you may remember, a 4GB RED iPod nano was released last month on Oprah's TV show creating hype around Bono's RED Product campaign, which also includes other gadgets such as the sexy RED RAZR phone.
Unfortunately, only $10 dollars from each RED iPod purchase go to the Global Fund, even though the 8GB sells for $249. Greg Joswiak, Apple's VP of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing, said, "Customer response to the iPod Nano RED Special Edition has been off the charts." Which is why I say, if you're going to get one for Christmas, get it now before there's a shortage.
In other news, I told you about the new lapel clip-on player months ago, but Apple has finally decided to release the 1GB iPod shuffle today. It basically holds 240 songs, and retails for $79. A perfect Christmas gift for gym enthusiasts.
Does anyone own any of these two players? Tell me about your experience with them.
Our team is on it and we should have everything back to normal shortly. Please come back soon.
