Online publications are taking a hard look back at all the technology this year has brought us before rounding up the best or worst gear list of 2006. While consumers are still deciding between the PS3 or the Wii, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, some guides have already emerged.
Here's a round-up of some of the Best and Worst Gadget picks that have trickled onto the web.
Popular Science
Dory Devlin and Chris Null touched on Popular Science's "Best of What's New 2006" list showcasing this year's top 100 tech innovations that will make the world a better place. The list is divided into ten categories ranging from automotive to recreation. Let's see, of the items covered in their gadgets category, we've brought you reviews of the Sony Reader, Pioneer INNO, Kodak EasyShare V570, Backup Pal, Nokia N95 and Motorola Q. Not bad. That's 6 out of 11 gadgets on our radar that made it to the list.
Time
Time magazine named YouTube as the Best Invention of 2006, surpassing a lot of cool inventions including a vaccine that prevents cervical cancer in women and the Battlefied Extraction-Assist Robot used by the military during search-and-rescue missions. I was pleasantly surprised that the Hug Shirt also made it to the list. Meanwhile, the race is on for the Gadget of the Year 2006 award. Among the eight contenders are the MacBook Pro, Nintendo DS Lite, Palm Treo 700W, and the Nike + iPod Sports Kit which we've covered here on Yahoo! Tech as well.
CNet
CNet hasn't published their all inclusive 2006 tech list yet, but they do have a list of the Top 10 worst tech of Q1, Q2 and Q3. The latest list includes fun stuff like iTunes 7 as the worst upgrade, the HP pretexting scandal, and let's not forget the Sony laptop battery recall. Ah, memories.
New York Times
David Pogue takes "A Look Back at the Buzz of 2006" re-examining his own tech reviews to see how they withstood the test of time. He updates his reviews with he latest dirt on the Bang & Olufsen Serene phone, Macbook Pro, Treo 700W and the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray battle.
But what do editors know about the best or worst gadgets of 2006. I want to hear what you, the consumer, thinks should be added to the list. What are your picks for worst and best gadget this year?

I'd say the newer BlackBerries. I recently acquired one for work. I recall using it to email Cisco some information and asking a team member "how were you able to send this to me" and he replies "emailed you from my BlackBerry". Wow! I recall the scene from "RV" where Robin William's character was not only typing his presentation on the BB but sent it out. Of course, he had to find a descent signal
Definantly for me has to be xbox 360, followed closely by my sansa E250 player.
I would say the iPod video 80gb, then the motorola razr v3i, the Blackberry Pearl, and then the Nokia N91. For laptops I would say the Sony Vaio SZ or the Apple MacBook Pro 17inch 3gb ram. I would say PS3 and XBOX 360. Those are the products that I own and they are great.

Being a camera buff, I'd have to go with the Nikon D80; 10 megapixals, under $1,000, and Nikon lenses. Can't beat that for a bargain.
