Any phone announcement this week will be overshadowed by the arrival of the much-anticipated iPhone, which was announced this morning at Macworld. Our own Chris Null has more details in his post. I knew they would release the iPhone; it was only a matter of time. Yippy! I'm pretty excited that Cingular will be the carrier too.
Well, on to other phone announcements. Motorola has also announced the new MOTORIZR Z6 slider music phone, which is expected to be available in the first half of 2007. The new RIZR Z6 features Windows Player 11, allowing you to drag and drop music files from your PC or download tracks from any Windows Media Player-compatible store. Only 64MB of onboard memory are allotted to this device, but you can expand your music library up to 2GB with an optional MicroSD memory chip, which is almost a must. The device supports Bluetooth-enabled devices sold separately, such as stereo headphones and printers. It also features a USB 2.0 connection for high-speed transfers, a Linux operating system, a 2-megapixel camera with a landscape viewfinder, video capture, and an MP3 player that supports MP3s, AAC, and WAV files. Price details are yet to be announced.
I'll post an image as soon as I can get one.
