Exactly a year ago, I stumbled upon the Intellifit machine in San Francisco's Levis store, and didn't hesitate to try it out. The electric body scanner gave me exact jean measurements, fit and even told me which pair of Levis would fit me perfectly. I'm not a fan of Levis jeans, but they're definitely more affordable than Seven and True Religion jeans.
But if designer jeans are just not tailored enough, there's another machine making its way into stores that will take your precise measurements to design the perfect pair of jeans for you. The Herald Tribune writes about the Bodymetrics "pod" which takes data from over 200,000 points all over your body in eight seconds to create your one-of-a-kind pair of jeans. According to the writer, the pod looks like a futuristic walk-in closet that beams white light against the body to take your exact measurements, which are used to design a custom pair of jeans that will cost you $482 per pair. You can choose everything about your new jeans including the type of fit, rise, height of pockets, and even denim.
While this machine is only available in Los Angeles, once the machine becomes more accessible to the rest of us, we can look forward to online shopping that will match our measurements with the retailer's inventory. Now that's pretty cool!
Our team is on it and we should have everything back to normal shortly. Please come back soon.
