Casio announced two more additions to the stylish EXILIM series, the EX-Z1050 and EX-Z75. What's great about these two models is the affordable $300 pricetag, a handful of great features, higher resolutions, and their availability in four stylish colors that include pink and blue.

Last April, I told you about Casio's EXILIM Zoom EX-Z1000, the first point-and-shoot digital camera to deliver a 10.1 megapixel resolution. Casio's follow-up to the EX-Z100 actually has a smaller screen (2.6 inches compared to the 2.8 inch LCD), that might explain the lower pricetag. As for the other specs on the EX-Z1050, it still features a 3X optical zoom, 4X digital zoom, anti-blur, anti-shake, motion analysis, and video capture features. The camera will retail for $299.99 when it debuts in March.

The thinner EX-Z75, on the other hand, has a larger display compared to it's predecessor the EX-Z70. Nonetheless, it still features a 7.2 megapixel resolution, a 2.6-inch LCD display, 3X optical zoom, 4X digital zoom, and will retail for $229.99.

Both cameras have a higher resolution, which only means you're able to enlarge pictures to poster size dimensions. I don't know many people that do that, but the high resolution could come in handy when you're snapping formal pictures at your sister's wedding or at the big family reunion. While the average consumer may not need a ten megapixel digital camera, those extra megapixels never hurt anyone (you can always change resolution settings).

The zoom is too short. In 35mmm film terms for this money the zoom should be 28 or 35mm to 135mm minimum! Everybody is making too much of megapixels. First buy a camera that viewing is comfortable. Second, the lens length should be as previously stated. Third, buy the camera with a return policy (keep receipt, original box & paper work in tact) Take a sample picture of the subject matter YOU like best and have an 11x14 made ($4 or more @ Walmart, Target, Costco). You like the quality; IE: sharpness, and color. Keep the camera, otherwise return it!
