I always feel strange about looking through my front door's peephole, because above it are two small windows that will give me away if I'm not careful. I especially don't want to go through that feeling of awkwardness when the person outside knows you're right by the door, but won't open it. Call me paranoid, but I won't open my front door to just anybody. I watch too many crime shows to know that's not always a good move.
The guys over at Popgadget spotted a device that will make your door peeping a lot safer. GE's IntelliCorder is an outstanding surveillance system that installs through a common peephole to show you who's at the door. The package includes a peephole video camera and a hand held monitoring device complete with a color LCD that enables you to screen unexpected guests right from the comfort of your home office or bedroom. The motion activated device also stores any recorded clips on its internal memory or on a removable SD card, which you can watch on demand when you get back from your vacation or business trip. You can add the GE SmartHome IntelliCorder to your existing home security system for about $299.99.Â
