For the Gadget-Lovin' Man in Your Life

Why are all of these articles for things to buy girls? I know my girlfriends have bought me things. Are there articles with lists of things to buy guys, or are they just not as popular on Yahoo!? ~Chris.

Chris is responding to my Valentine's gadget gifts for her suggestions, and coincidently, he wasn't the only one wondering about gift ideas for men. It comes as no surprise that women prefer flowers, dinner, and a movie on Valentine's Day. But after Ricky and I asked several men on the street what they wanted for Valentine's Day, we pretty much came to the conclusion that men want gadgets for every holiday. Now feel free to disagree with me here guys, but it's hard to disagree with that assumption when I myself have a techno-loving husband.

I enlisted the help of my friend, the original "technosexual" Ricky Montalvo, who helped me select five great gadgets for him. Now, in case you're wondering, a technosexual is a person who loves all things tech, but doesn't overlook style. So ladies, whether you've been madly in love for years, on the prowl, or just meeting the parents, treat him to a special gift this Valentine's Day. You know, it's not always about us.

Oakely AP Sandbag

Tired of him carrying all those gadgets in his pockets? Don’t want him looking like he's still carrying that old college backpack? Have him styling' in this Oakley’s AP Sandbag that gives the old Batman belt the boot. The sling-style gadget bag fits a laptop plus all his gadgets in an array of pockets located on the inside and out. It's a great gadget bag made for the modern urban warrior. Price: $110

Romantic tip: Fill the bag up with sexy toys on Valentine's. Just make sure you take them out before he takes the bag to work.

Digital Photo Viewer Keychain

I know my Dad would love this digital photo viewer keychain, because he loves showing off pictures of his grandkids, so for this reason alone I'm recommending this little item to my mother. But I think any girl can get really creative with one of these. Download all those sappy pictures of your first date or first anniversary together, and take him back on a little trip down memory lane anytime. It's capable of holding up to 56 pictures from your PC or Mac, so now there's no excuse for anyone to doubt he's not happily committed. Price: $50

Romantic tip: Spice things up with racy pictures for his eyes only.

Jawbone Noise Canceling Headset

Headset-wearing boyfriends can sure make us feel like we're dating a cast member from Star Trek. Give him a subtle makeover with a Jawbone headset that will have him looking more Jude Law than Captain Kirk. I love how this headset drowns out ambient noise, so he can hear you whispering sweet nothings over loud noises, like say, annoying co-workers at the office. The sleek perforated metal shield is available in three colors. Price: $120

Romantic tip: Next time you're professing your deep unadulterated love for him, ask him to place the headset on his left ear. Studies say emotional words get through to people better when they hear them through the left ear.

Paul Frank Red Eye Express Watch

Don't let your jetsetting boyfriend be late again. Show him the difference between being “here” and when he should be “there.” Paul Frank’s Red Eye Express Watch ($200) comes with two analog time displays in two stylish dials that give him a simple reminder of what time he should always be there with you. I have to hand it to Ricky, every man who travels needs this watch.

Romantic tip: Remember that scene in Pretty Woman when she gives him a tie?

V-MODA Vibe Earphones

Is your man still sporting those white buds? Scrap them and replace them with a pair of these metal sound-stylish ear buds. I know a few technosexuals who would love a pair of earbuds from V-Moda, especially those new V-Moda Vibe headphones essential for an active lifestyle, featuring noise isolation. All available in four sexy colors to match any music enthusiast's sense of style. Price: $101.00

Romantic tip: Load his music player with his favorite songs, and let him experience them all over again. Hey, if you have a microphone, use your imagination.

I don't need my girl to spend between $50 and $100 on me for Valentines. My friends, this "article" is a sales add paid for by the makers of the "gifts." This is a very widespread tactic these days so watch out. I'd love to know how much the manufactures of these products paid Yahoo to get included. Regardless, I'd rather get free gifts anyway. A massage, a slow dance, a home cooked meal with candlelight, and a cuddle on the couch while watching a movie sounds good to me.

We all know that as an affiliate retailer, Yahoo is constantly ramming their "must haves" down our throat. But can't they come up with anything better than this? Maybe they should use their "Travel" affiliates for a nice romantic trip to some foggy Irish village or a sunny tropical love nest....

I find it dissapointing that this "acknowledgement" of our love interest has turned into a Christmas like commercial consumer holiday.

I'm completely baffled by all the ignorant and immature responses that were posted here. Some just posted for people to act like f*cking douchebags. Grow up. It was enough to make me laugh, though. Anyway, I thought the ideas were okay. Guidance is great for people who need that boost or reminder of what her significant other wants....Everyone has different tastes. Some may find it useful, others won't. I must agree, the title stated "Gadget Loving" Man. It didn't say anything about any other type of personality stated in the article. You either like or don't like, which most of you don't. I admit, I cringe at the thought of V-Day or an Anniversary, because I never know what to get my boyfriend. He isn't the type that's materialistic, and he hates when I spend money on his accord.... How can I compete with that? _ It's friggin annoying. I try to get as close as I can with things he likes, but he ends up barely using them. I'd rather give him a whole day of pampering, and what I'll buy would be put to good use. I know a few things he may want, but it's really out of my budget....So, I'd have to figure out something better to get, ya know? Well, that's my two cents on the matter. And for the guy that said it was only created for women, he can bite me. Woman do dominate the male masses in more ways than you can ever know, so kiss my feet, slave!!!

How about we all grow up and realize that you don't HAVE to take part in this holiday at all. Maybe that will curtail some of the whining, eh? And if you MUST take part, try a flower and a card.

Lets not make it difficult on ourselves, for sure u know what he likes, Wrapping choclate in nice wrapping paper and leave it by TV, he would say to himself is that all. Then at night when u meet him surprise him with a new book,a wallet, DVD, music album, or tickets to watch his favorite team Gigi

When is the insanity going to cease? People buying a Valentine's gift that cost $50 - over $100. I don't get it! This is yet another reason why Americans are saving less money than any other generation of our country. Give him/her a nice card, (in which you can make yourself!), and fix a nice meal for you better half.

What the heck is a technosexual, well I looked it up: In this sense, it is a portmanteau word combining "technophile" and "metrosexual". Technosexuality as such has been described by a promoter as "a dandyish narcissist in love with not only himself, but also his urban lifestyle and gadgets; a straight man who is in touch with his feminine side but has fondness for electronics such as cell phones, PDAs, computers, software, and the web."(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technosexual) What is the world trying to turn a man into these days! What a crock of CRAP! What happened to the guy who had some testosterone and if people expect this man to become a metrosexual or technosexual or anything other than just plain "man" then well I guess I am the Caveman on the Geico commercial! HAHA! What happened to the guy putting his coat over the mud puddle or showing respect by opening the door. Where is the romance?

Some things I did for my husband was rent a hotel had some of his favorite thgs (food, candy, etc) and my husband loves for me to dirty dance for him so I got some of his favortie songs on a cd put layers of sexy clothes on and called him up and told him the hotel and room # to meet me and when he got there I sat him in a chair tied his hands so he couldn't touch me and started to dance for him with each song until I had nothing but my birthday suit on and then you can guess what happen after that. He loved it!!

I don't know about the rest of you, but it's Valentine's Day! How about a cute nightie, or lingerie, with you in it? bet he'd like that more! If it's got to be a techie thing, a nice ipod filled with favorit love songs might put him in the mood. Noreen

As someone that worked in Brookstone for 2 years I can tell you the digital photo keychain is NOT worth it at all. First off cell phones probably have better resolution than the digital photo keychain. The screen si not large or very practical. Brookstone has plenty of great gift ideas... If I were a lady i would personally look into the tempurpedic slippers or massage products. They are relatively inexpensive and always a hit!

The reviews of these gifts seem to come from a cosmo article entitled "how to change your dorky man." If you love your man why are you truing to change him.
