Too Much Strawberry in the Googe

Every year, search engines such as Yahoo! and Google give their logos a little makeover to celebrate most major holidays. Google goes a little overboard sometimes doing this for random events like the Lunar New Year or Albert Einstein's birthday. Today's Valentine's Day "Google Doodle" set tongues a-wagging all over the blogosphere, most of them poked fun at what looks like a missing "L" in Google.

Google Doodler, Dennis Hwang explains the ambiguous letter on the company's blog: "When you look at the logo, you may worry that we forgot our name overnight, skipped a letter, or have decided that "Googe" has a better ring to it. None of the above. I just know that those with true romance and poetry in their soul will see the subtlety immediately."

That's funny, are they making reference to Barnabe Googe (#2 position in a googe search), an English poet who wrote "I did but see her passing by, and yet I love her till I die?" Ah, that would make sense. Xorfugus might've solved the riddle of the missing "L" after all.

But I think it's a lot more fun to think that Google Doodlers are just humans who make mistakes. What do you think?

I saw that this Wednesday, but what i focused on was how the strawberry with chocolate drizzle makes a crappy G. I never realized that the L was missing. Maybe they thought the stem of the strawberry was enough of an L?

I thought maybe someone has a Valentine's message for a girl named Noelle (or maybe a guy named Noel).
