Remember that $600 Dolce & Gabbana RAZR that came out last year? Despite its high price tag, this slick designer phone has been one of the most coveted handsets to date. But will a non-designer gold RAZR prove to be as popular? Only time will tell if AT&T's new V3xx in solid gold—sans the designer name—will be as successful as the couture Dolce & Gabbana RAZR or even the magenta RAZR that sold millions after its release.
Engadget Mobile got word that this flashy gold phone is already available and is sporting a 1.3 megapixel digicam, MP3/video player, Bluetooth, and microSD expansion slot, among other features. This version may not have the D&G logo, charm or matching accessories (H700 Bluetooth headset, RAZRWIRE Eyewear, gold leather case), but it's a lot more affordable. You can find the handset at Cingular stores for $99 + a two year contract, otherwise expect to pay $279.
But what I want to know is if this gold RAZR appeals to you as much as the designer D&G version? Your thoughts?

I have the D&G gold V3i - I have had it 6 weeks - never dropped - wet or abused - it will come on - but shuts off when any button is pushed. What can I do ?

I find the gold color to be very tacky. I'm tired of all these continuous RAZR models. Sure, the RAZR was a great phone when it came out, three years ago. Three years later, I think it lost its buzz. But yes, I think the gold V3xx will be as good as the Dolce. I think that the V3xx phone is a better phone than the V3i. I think Motorola should come out with another design that will stun everyone, but not just the KRZR, something totally different.
