When did flash drives become collectibles? Thanks to Mimoco, you'll never look at memory sticks the same way. Mimoco is one of the only—if not the only—companies that incorporate flash drives into collectible designer toys.
Most of the flash drives have a story behind their character, which in part is what appeals to toy collectors, but these "toys" are also fully-functional hi-speed USB 2.0 drives that can store music, data, photographs and programs. They have a capacity to store up to 2GB of anything you want to take with you, and cost between $60-$185.
Their new series called the "Ginchy Series" are the newest Mimobot characters added to the growing collection. Ramona, Link and Betty-Lou are the mini-rockabilly buddies who travel through Los Angeles taking photos and sharing them with friends. Ramona is the photographer of the group and enjoys horror movies and big hair. Link is the 50's loving Rocker and Betty Lou is the glass wearing, Jitterbug loving Mimbot.
The series was designed by Lily Chin, and inside each of Ginchy Mimobot, you will also find music by New York-based DJ Phofo, and a digital slideshow of Ramona, Link and Betty Lou by toy photgrapher Brian McCarty.
Oh, and collectors can now buy furry keychain Protohoodie accessories to take their toy-flash drives anywhere they go.
