Never mind that people are doing work while they're on the toilet, even casual electronics users are taking them into the bathroom for leisure use: A UK study says that 10 percent of broadband web users partake of their internet connection while they're seated in the loo.
While another study found that 53 percent of adults take work-related phone calls in the bathroom, the new survey notes that 1 of 10 people regularly turns to an electronic device while using the bathroom in order to surf the web, finally encroaching into the one last stronghold where magazines, books, and newspapers have long been unassailable.
35 percent of those questioned also said they use their computer while in bed -- a number that actually feels awfully low to me. According the the study's creator: "Some people are now such fans of emailing and the internet they want to stay in touch with the worldwide web whenever and wherever they are." In the case of toilet browsing... that's putting it lightly.
Still, it's the bathroom results that remain the most interesting and, to be honest, the most troubling. If nothing else, it's something to keep in mind next time you ask to borrow your friend's iPhone...

What this study does not mention, however, is that the majority of these bathroom tech-users are there to flush Windows Vista down the toilet.
