Man, its amazing - these recalls have been in place since 2003/2004 and nobody really knows about them. Thanks for putting the links up - I checked all my affected machines, and luckily none of them needed the replacement battery.

Does anyone realize that Sony's Vaios laptops doesn't seem to appear on the list of manufactures? Is Sony trying to run some business scam to get customers to want to come over towards purchasing their computers? Something is not right here at all!

My Sony laptop battery freezes the computer. Communicating with Sony necessitates learning the language of the Philippines. They dance us around until we are frustrated. My complaint generated four id numbers. After three months Sony replaced the defective battery. The new one is somewhat better. I paid for a long life battery. One hour is not a long life. Sony seems to leave a lot to be desired with their products.

The battery in my Sony Vaio has been replaced within the year warranty. The "new" replacement has a 90 day warranty. Sony batterys seem cheap and poorly manufactured. My paid for three hour battery discharges in one hour. Go Sony

My Sony Vaio was not on the list of recalled batteries, but my computer gets so hot that I can't put it in my lap unless I use a blanket. I also can't keep chapstick or food on my desk, because my laptop will melt it! Of course, this computer is still AMAZING compared to what I had to go through with a Dell.
