I write a lot of notes to myself. Constantly writing things down on Post-Its. Sending myself emails. Making lists. If I don't, I wake up in a sweat in the middle of the night, suddenly remembering this thing or that thing that I've been forgetting to do.
Jott is a new service (currently in beta) that is going to make my neuroses infinitely better. It's obscenely simple: You dial a special toll-free number on your cell phone (or landline, if you prefer), you get a prompt to record a message to yourself, and then Jott converts the voice message to text and emails it to you. (You can also share messages with contacts you invite through the Jott system, which it calls "Jottcasting.")
That's it. Simple, but incredibly clever: You can send yourself a reminder email without being anywhere near a computer. I've tried it, and it works perfectly and quickly. There's not a lot of overhead in the form of prompts and extra button presses. It's all very intuitive.
Most interesting facet of the service? It's not run by machines: Real live humans take your messages and type them up by hand. That means everything is spelled correctly, and you don't get any of those "they're/their/there" errors. Nice touch.
Jott is open for service right now. Head on over and give it a spin!

That is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. Its pretty fast too.
I can't wait to try service.
I'd NEVER use Jott...Unless they made it such that a computer records and e-mails the message versus a live person. I have NO desire to let some stranger know WTF I need to remind myself about. Ridiculous idea! IF they EVER convert to a computer-based recording/e-mailing system, then count me in!
Is there a time limit on the message - could you record a book or a thesis and have a person type it up and send it to your email address? and even correctly spell everything. and then you could cut and paste it and print it out....sounds like a heck of a deal - for free.
Doesn't mention that it is totally free and the disclaimer is that there could be fees related-----no thanks, I'd rather call me cell and leave a voice mail or just email me!!
So if it's free who is paying the bills and why.
wonder how much they get paid for each email they collect
It's totally free jamie42778, and irenef1406 it has a 30 sec limit because off people whit your idea, lol
This isn't exactly free. While the jotting down part is, your cell phone company will still charge you for receiving a text message - which for most companies is 10 cents.
It is'nt free. They get your e-mail and cell phone number to sell to advertising companys.
