CES 2007: Let's Get Ready to Rumble!

We're just days away from the biggest technology trade show in America: CES 2007. I'm filled with both anticipation and dread (you don't know what a cab line is until you visit the Las Vegas airport at trade show time), but I've got new shoes, a fresh gig of flash memory for my camera, and my typing fingers ready to rock. Come Monday you'll get our live dispatches from the show (all the bloggers will be in attendance along with "Hook Me Up" host Becky Worley, who's doing video blogs), plus all the gossip that's fit to print.

Here's a sneak peek of what I'll be writing about:

• Copious new MP3 players, all aiming to take a bite out of that elusive iPod market.
• TVs bigger than ever. Though plasma had a resurgence in popularity in 2006, 2007 is shaping up to be the year of LCD. I've got a couple of meetings set up to see how LCD is finally going to give plasma the business for good...and I hear talk that DLP projection TVs might have a breath of innovation left in them, too. Still, my prediction is to see a 120-inch display this year, besting last year's record of 103 inches.
• Clever melding of home theater and home furnishing. People are getting tired of their setups dominating the room (those 50-inch displays don't help, do they?). Expect to see some innovative ways to hide speakers and other components around your living room.
• Robots. Asimo is in attendance. Hopefully he won't bite the dust like he did here. I'll be videotaping.
• Cameras a-plenty. I'm promised interesting things from Casio, Samsung, and more.
• The first-ever Internet-connected automotive GPS system. (Real-time traffic updates? We'll see.)
• Lots of gaming gear. From 3D mice to heads-up displays, I'm hitting the gaming expo on Wednesday.

And more! I'll be blogging until my fingers bleed, so I hope at least a few of you will be reading. I'll probably have my first posts up on Sunday night (after one of CES's splinter shows), so check back on January 7 for all the dirt.
