Quick Fix: Move the IE7 Menu Bar To The Top of the Screen

Turning off the menu bar by default in Internet Explorer 7 was bad enough. Even worse: When you turn it on, it's located below the URL bar, which for some reason is located at the very top of the IE7 screen.

Well, someone came up with a quick fix to put the menu bar back where it belongs, at the top of the screen. Just visit this web page, download the file linked, unzip, and open it. It will tweak the registry appropriately, no reboot required. (The "after" image is shown in the picture above.)

The only problem: This hack moves any add-on toolbars to the top of the screen as well. Traditionally they go beneath the URL bar, but IE7 makes them ride along with the menu bar. Alas, there's no way to reorganize the bars at all.

Still, this tweak is at least an improvement over the way IE7 works by default.

Or, of course, you could always just use Firefox instead.

IE7 sucks. use FF or Opera. IE's tabs lag really bad, and sometimes it crashes randomly.

I tried IE7 because AT&T browser requires it - but now I'm back to Firefox - there is no comparison
