Are they listening in on your cell phone calls? It's pretty much common knowledge that many cell phones can now be converted to work as surreptitious eavesdropping devices. All it takes is some simple changes to the cell phone software (courtesy of your abiding cell phone company) and the government (or anyone else with the secret sauce) can use your cell phone microphone as an always-on transmitter, recording not just your calls but anything you happen to say when you're in the same room as your handset.
Lauren Weinstein links to this interesting (if low-budget) video he made about cell phone bugs (or taps) and how to tell if you've been targeted. Here are the secrets:
As Weinstein notes, you are almost certainly not carrying a bugged cell phone in your pocket. But if you have cause to be concerned, these tests are very easy to perform and are reasonably reliable, too.

It is true, isn't it? I knew it. yes, my nokia has been hot on the outside, strangely, yes, it keeps running out of power, yes, I will suddenly hear an echo and a click. I have a controlling husband who keeps saying, Make sure you take your phone with you......I want to be able to call you......I knew it.....He has been listening to me talk about divorcing him. I could just die. He puts xenax pills in my coffee and I just realized that. I want documentation because I cant prove it. Not one lab will test the coffee, not one. I wondered how he always knew where I had been. Can I get in writing somewhere the number of times he has violated my privacy?, Jumped on my line, Broke into my personal conversation, Pryed his way into my personal thoughts about getting away from HIM? This has to be stalking. I feel so unprotected.
what a joke
Cell phones are being bugged a lot more frequent then people really are aware of. Kids, as well as ID Thieves are doing it. It is so easy, and cheap to do that people are forgetting that it is a federal offense. IDFTaskForce. COM have been debugging bugged phone before people even knew that it was possible to bug a cell phone. They have been servicing public officials, NFL and other sports players, CEO's of corporate America, and now offering their services to anyone who may need them... Their number is 1888-843-4262
If you think your phone may be bugged visit these people www.idftaskforce.com the company I work for uses them all the time prior to having close meetings.

I watched a BBC program that followed people in London, listening to their conversations.
