Yes, I know it's hard to get excited about big, honking network printers, but take a look at what Panasonic is doing with them: Panasonic's new C3 multifunction printers will eschew the usual beige case in favor of color bodies. The new printers will be available in red, yellow, or blue. For old sticks in the mud, black is available.
Note that these aren't printers designed for a teenager's bedroom. They're big office printers, designed for multiple users and all-day activity. It's the first time I've heard of this kind of design shift in the stodgy corporate printer market.
Why color? Panasonic says color in the office improves worker morale and productivity. While the effect of a single piece of hardware being red instead of white might not be enormous, it is at least a start. Here's what various colors are said to do to you on a subconscious, psychological level. I was amused to find that the dark green walls of my office are "masculine, conservative, and imply wealth."
What do you think? Would you put a yellow (enhances concentration and speeds metabolism) or red (the color of love) printer in your office?

I thought about the idea for a bit and realized that I would love a colored copier in our office. After looking around at all the equiptment, the fax, the printers, the computers, they are all white or beige, everything is pretty dull. I have also read studies that say color helps increase the workrate and the morale of employees in the workplace, and seeing that most people use the copier, adding a little color is a great idea!
Interesting concept here... I work in a fantastic office atmosphere but the office space is literally the most grey, bland, and generally windowless environment I have ever been apart of. I can only dream what more color and some redecorating can add to the morale and the general feeing in the workplace. Maybe color printers are the first step in creating positive energy???
i await this development anxiously out here in kenya
What a neat idea! Office machines are so boring looking, a little splash of color would be a refreshing change!
Windows Vista is Microsoft's new Operating system. My favorite things about the new OS: the graphics ...

Actually these are MFPs which not only print but also make professional color copies in addition to being a scanner, fax machine and can also email playing a pivotal role in today's daily office routines. And color is cool...any color is better than looking at an off white landscape all day long.
