Step Right Up for Your Microchip Implant!

Tiny implantable chips have long been available for your pets: The microchips are about the size of a grain of rice, and they are permanently inserted under the skin of your dog or cat. The chip includes a unique ID number that, once read by a veterinarian, can be traced back to you via an online database.

Well you know what I'm about to say had to happen eventually: A similar chip is being proposed for use in humans.

Before you can say "the sign of the beast," lets get some details out of the way. The plan, being lobbied for by the company VeriChip, would replace military dog tags with implanted RFID chips containing information about the soldier's identity and medical history. The plan calls for the chip to be optional and that, of course, they're perfectly safe.

I've no doubt that the chips are medically safe, but I'm deeply worried about how such a system could be abused. In the absence of any other identification, would an RFID implant serve to identify a soldier? RFID data can be faked or cloned relatively easily, and the possibility for someone to masquerade as a legitimate soldier is huge. The implications for the military are especially scary, and that of course is just an obvious first step. Could "chipping" the public follow suit in a few years? I for one am scared silly by the thought of how easy these RFID chips could make identity theft. All a would-be thief would potentially need is an RFID scanner and a convenient bump into you in the street.

The good news is that Congress so far seems pretty unthrilled with the idea, and so far the plan hasn't gotten very far. But the lobbies behind the chip are powerful and have money to burn, so don't expect this idea to go away any time soon. Meanwhile, educate yourself about the technology, write your congressmen, and have your pets spayed and neutered.

I had this exact conversation last week with someone, prior to this article where we talked about the possibility of a microchip in humans ultimately becoming the sign of the beast. While it may not be as obvious as "666" it sure has appeal that many would believe as innocent and convenient. This is what concerns me most; future potential uses of a microchip in humans.

This is beyond a bad idea. This is our right of privacy be taken away. This is homeland security's way of getting into our home's since they have failed so far by being told no to phone tapping. Unfortunately this idea is well into the process of being excepted by Congress...how is this so? First, As of May 2008, most states(including mine which is MA) have accepted the idea of identification cards. For those who are not familiar it is a"new" license which is suppose to have your fingerprint and a microchip in it to track where you are going. Anyone who does not comply(trade in old license)will no longer be able to enter federal buildings or to use most forms of public transportation to travel(airplanes, buses etc.) This is the first step to the microchip implant in us ourselves. How do i feel they will start implanting us? Yes i believe the military is first, yup prisoners and immigrants..all to try and make Americans believe its good for us...then they will try to get the public to except the idea of implanting our children. Right when they are born, that way they can say it would be more in benefit to ourselves. Well they are already trying to do this on prisoners. Someone I know was just released from jail and he was supposed to be on house arrest.. and instead of using those big bulky ankle bracelets they wanted to plant a chip into his arm to keep track of him at all times.. Now I think this chip would be a good idea for people who were released from prison for rape or similar serious issues.. bc they can be tracked at all times.. but then again like someone else said the information could easily be manipulated.. So I really dont know what to think..

Uh- if you havent read the book of Revelations in the Bible yet - now would be a good time to start. Wether you think this is a good idea or not it will come to pass and if you have any hopes to see heaven someday you'd better not take it. Those who know the Bible and all the truths it holds have known this and so many other things to come for years. The Bible makes the newspaper headlines look like old news.

A little extreme but, If all Americans were chipped, big brother would have an easy way (like GPS) to track down and eliminate anyone they wanted to; like those who stand up for their constitutional rights. I say absolutely no chipping. It is very very wrong.

Wake up everyone, sure now they say it's a good idea for solidiers but then it will be mandatory for them. Then this will move to other groups that are vulnerable, such as welfare recipients it will most likely replace their food stamp card with reasoning that they are being sold, or lost. Then after that's succesfully implemented our money will be replaced with this chip, and we won't be able to "buy or sell" without it.

I go against this idea of a microchip plain and simple its bad I dont want some stupid chip inside my wrist. (INteresting how I knew where they would put it eh?). But simply this is just another way they government can control their people. They make up excuses giving there ideas good meaning when they're just lying. If this country is free I have my right to disagree and im hoping others would want their rights to be protected and fight back against this force.

I don't like this idea at all. Regardless of what the implant is used for initially has nothing to do with what it will become. Take any electronic device and look at how it has evolved. Televisions, computers, steroes, etc. I see this as nothing different. Another method of control.

Bad idea. We have enough problems in the world already without adding another.

My prediction is that someday computer chips will be implanted in the brain and all you have to do is download information you want to learn. Similar to a hard drive on a computer. Just think how smart you could be. Knowledge and power would be exponential. You could mold people into what you wanted them to be. You could mold yourself into what you wanted to be, to an extent. This has nothing to do with the topic per se, but the idea of having computer chips implanted made me think of this. I'll be a trillionaire once i figure out how to create the technology.

I refuse to let anyone insert any sort of chip in me. It's not right. And they're darn right it's the mark of the beast. =|

If this is implemented, then there will be no more privacy in this world. The 'goverment' will know everything about you. Besides, how can you live with such thing in your body? Just one word to describe it.. Scary.

This is a horrible idea. This is clearly the technology that will be used for the mark of the beast that will send every person that accepts it, to eternal heck It's also an invasion of privacy, and gives fascist nazi totalitarian control to anyone that holds the power of the chip, to turn it on and off as well. But the first reason should be enough to say no to this sick and twisted idea.

I think all sex offenders and violent criminals should be implanted with it these would help keep track and slow the crime rate down this is what they should be looking at this is perfect for any kind of criminal out there lerking

I think that the good thing with Microchips is that, if the data is heavily encrypted, this will eliminate the need of ID and passports, allowing us to travel to other countries without the hassle of showing up your passport. Passports anyways are out of date. Because you get it anyway at the post office, why would you want the hassle? I believe in privacy, but I think with technology possible, it will preserve the rights to privacy, while at the same time, eliminate the need of carrying an ID or a driver's license with you all the time.

The world has done quite well without this technology. It is not necessary. Plain and simple.

I think this is a horrible idea. I do not want the government or anyone else to be able to track my every move. Talk about big brother watching....

I personaly believe that this is a great idea concidering anybody killed in a war currently could lose their dog tags before they were killed or have them taken by the enemy. Its worked for animals so why not let soliders have the option to have one of these chips implanted. TRuthfully it is a persons decision no matter what happens to get one or not, if they work or not is the question. When its all said and done I would actually use one myself so I wouldnt have the hassle of I.D. cards and what not, I could have a chip that gets scanned and says it all. So in short, I like it and I want one.

I agree with most of the posts already here. It is a total invasion of privacy, and WOULD certainly be abused by our government sometime in the future. It could come to the point where you can't hold a job or conduct any kind of business without an implant. Anyone who reads the Bible knows that that is something that none of us want to do! I'm certain that those smart people that run our government can think of some better way of protecting citizens than with an implant!
