Step Right Up for Your Microchip Implant!

Tiny implantable chips have long been available for your pets: The microchips are about the size of a grain of rice, and they are permanently inserted under the skin of your dog or cat. The chip includes a unique ID number that, once read by a veterinarian, can be traced back to you via an online database.

Well you know what I'm about to say had to happen eventually: A similar chip is being proposed for use in humans.

Before you can say "the sign of the beast," lets get some details out of the way. The plan, being lobbied for by the company VeriChip, would replace military dog tags with implanted RFID chips containing information about the soldier's identity and medical history. The plan calls for the chip to be optional and that, of course, they're perfectly safe.

I've no doubt that the chips are medically safe, but I'm deeply worried about how such a system could be abused. In the absence of any other identification, would an RFID implant serve to identify a soldier? RFID data can be faked or cloned relatively easily, and the possibility for someone to masquerade as a legitimate soldier is huge. The implications for the military are especially scary, and that of course is just an obvious first step. Could "chipping" the public follow suit in a few years? I for one am scared silly by the thought of how easy these RFID chips could make identity theft. All a would-be thief would potentially need is an RFID scanner and a convenient bump into you in the street.

The good news is that Congress so far seems pretty unthrilled with the idea, and so far the plan hasn't gotten very far. But the lobbies behind the chip are powerful and have money to burn, so don't expect this idea to go away any time soon. Meanwhile, educate yourself about the technology, write your congressmen, and have your pets spayed and neutered.

I believe it is not a good idea to have the chip in you, like the writer wrote, they could be easily stolen and cloned etc. Lobbyists want what they want and will want what they want, but if all of us unite we do have a voice to say 'no.' For those that think a chip is hard to steal, think again: if someone would kill a person just for his/her wallet, he could kill for as easily for someones precious identity. ---very concerned.

Not a Christian myself, but it seems as likely a candidate for the Mark 'o the Beast as any.

Another sign that the Vatican-led New World Order is rearing it's ugly head. Wake up to what is happening in America!Refuse to accept this, and take back your liberty that the Constitution promised us!

I feel that there is no need for something like this. If people don't have any ID, then finger prints will tell everything. This is extreme and many people will be against this no matter how much money is spent on making this happen. I also feel that people shouldn't be obligated to have something implanted in them if they don't want to.

I want to have that chip implanted because here in Mexico is so much KIDNAPPING, this will come so handy in a country like mine, forget the invassion of privacy or other things, think about the horror of being kidnaped, tortured, raped and humilliated, this doesn't compare non in a thousand years whit the horror of being kidnapped here, forget about the concerns of Big Brother watching, i hope the technology avances more and produces a satellite device interconnected, like a chip similar to a cell phone chip, that can be localized thru a satellite signal, and localizing that precise place, the police thru satellite can track a kidnapped person, this could mean dead or life, a saved life and less crime out there, i hope this comment is read it by some developers.

you will all take the chip and like it. you are all slaves. we will track you so you can be controlled. we will know everything and you will all fade away slowly after we have used you for your purpose. take your immunizations, perscription pills, and vote for either party, we will be served.

The verichip is just another way of taking the Liberties, we have fought so hard for, and diminishing the Constitution even more. You will not be able to fly a plane without them. You will not be able to buy groceries, use your bank, etc, etc, etc,......Do not let this happen. We are organizing LibertyWalk2008 and will be walking one mile for every word in our Constitution. We feel as if it is time for everyone to stand up. Please take a look at our story. Our website is almost completed, but you can find us on MySpace for the time being. Fight the Fight, Cody

I wish they'd spend more time on a type of chip that could track abducted children so they could be found or tracked before harm came to them. They talk of placing a device in their shoe but shoes can easily be removed and tossed away.

I personally thing this is a HUGE bad idea. I won't do it to my pets, my children, or myself. It is insane to give the govenment, criminals and so many otehrs the access to our personal data. Even in the area of our precious soldiers, I feel it is a grave mistake. Why, well let me tell you! Say john doe dies. John die can remove his chip, replace it with his own and HOOHAA
