I write a lot about RAM, upgrades, and RAM upgrades on this blog. So I'm sad to report that RAM prices are heading upward. Memory chips have risen anywhere from 8 to 20 percent this year, depending on type. That could translate to a substantial increase in end user prices over the next few weeks. (To make matters worse, PC manufacturers will be buying more RAM in coming months to prepare for the holidays, so demand will push prices even higher.)
It won't take long for the price changes to hit retail stores and even less time to affect new PC prices. So get those RAM sticks (or as I like to say, RAMage ;), while they're still sitting at rock bottom prices. You won't get a better deal this year!

interesed and helpful. Tell how to clean the window screen after couple of years use. My screen is slowing down. Is n,t time to remove some garbage from inside out?
As usual.. whe don't the prices go up. Here where I live in South Africa. They retailers need to push their proces because of the suppliers. They're making all their bread and butter components such as RAM and CPU cost more, seeing that this is the most vital part of the computer. But it's now 615 Z.A.R. for the cheapest singe 512RAM on the market. So the exchange rate is about 7 Z.A.R - 1 $, so we're looking aroud $ 87. Shocking!
Ok 1st darktruth06 I am sure Everyone would tell you ram is a big plus, and the more the better, but as to your needs ? as to limited CPU, it all depends on your programs and any muti tasking. That said honest at 1.6 ghz, I would save money for a newer copmuter. jemitah9 Have not seen too many screens slow down do to the monitor. Check your video card and make sure it's up to date. Remember if your using heavy graphic's you will need more ram. as to removing garbage, do it often.

Mr. Null, I'd like to know something. I have a Dell notebook (no danger of exploding batteries) with a 1.6 Ghz processor and 512 MB RAM. If I were to head to Best Buy and purchase 1GB of notebook memory, would I notice a change in performance? Or is the power of my computer limited by the processor?
