Rich, Corinthian leather, you say? Lenovo's ThinkPad line is undergoing a renaissance of sorts lately, and a new website at thinkpadreserve.com promises even more goodness down the line.
Alas, I can't tell you much at all. The site features a Flash animation of leathercrafting... and that's about it, so speculation is that this will be the first ThinkPad to come wrapped in cowhide. There's no news on whether it'll be a typical notebook design or something more unusual.
It's rather interesting in that the ThinkPad line only recently saw its first non-all-black unit (a laptop with a titanium lid), so such a move would be quite unique for the line. (I'm not including the oddball ThinkPad TransNote, which launched in 2001, in that list, however.)
Of course, alternative materials have been around in laptops for some time now. Leather-bound models already exist, as do wood laptops and notebooks with carbon-fiber cases. Leather's not that odd, but for Lenovo, it's pretty unusual. Stay tuned for more news... unless you can scam a preview code to get past the invitation code field on the ThinkPad Reserve website and get the scoop today.

Okay, I have seen the actual notebook. It's definitely an interesting design and concept overall. I think people will be intrigued. As for the leather, you can emboss up to 30 characters onto the leather. I have only seen it shown as a light tan brown leather notebook, so I dont know if they have it in black or not. I am not too impressed by the leather myself, but it does add to the distictive nature of the laptop.
