I hate doing posts like this, I really do, but the energy surrounding the Apple iPhone is so extreme that I just can't help myself. And the news is: It finally has a release date: June 29. 26 days from now as I type this.
There's nothing much more to add to the story for now. It's still $499 (4GB) or $599 (8GB) with a two-year contract from AT&T (née Cingular). It still doesn't have a 3G radio in it. And it still looks way cool. No news on what the monthly plan charges will be, as you'll definitely need some kind of data plan to run all of its cool features. If you want some more up-close-and-personal action, Gizmodo has Apple's three TV commercials for the iPhone (the last one is pretty amusing) that will begin playing any moment now.
How's June 29 as an omen for a product launch?
Not much good to report, really. It's the birthday of Gary Busey, Richard Lewis, and Fred "Gopher" Grandy. Much worse: Fatty Arbuckle, Katharine Hepburn, and Jayne Mansfield all died on that date, and the infamous Sampoong Department Store collapsed in Seoul on that date in 1995, killing 501 and injuring 937 more.
Bad omen or just unfortunate coincidences? I'm not sure, but I don't think poor Fatty's death will be enough to dampen enthusiasm for the "it" gizmo of 2007.
So... are you getting one?

You can easily come up with bad events that occured on every day of the year, geez. That was lame.
I want one NOW! I refused to renew my Sprint contract when I first the iPhone demo. Now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.
Yes I will get one.
everything apple makes. mostly freezes, the ipod freezes, a apple mac freezes, will this iphone freeze too??.. technology now a days is so advanced, that some of them freeze. i hope the bill won't come so high though
does the iPhone will arrive to Mexico?? if yes...when will it arrive here?
It rocks UR MON
Hi, I think it will do a lot of changes in the industry but I'll buy one after a long testing at their store. by the way when its coming to the Middle East.
I know the iPhone is supposed to do seemless switching from EDGE to WiFi when you're in a hot spot, but the lack of 3G is a big disappointment for me. As an avid Mac and iPod user, I am obviously a big fan of the concept, but I think I'll hold out for now until a few reviews come in, or until they come out with iPhone v.2 that can get on 3G networks. Kind of a bummer that they left that out, when it has everything else anyone could ever want in a PDA / Phone combo.
I WANT IT! My dog ate my i pod so i want this insted!!!
yes if I had the money to get one of course!!!
viva la treo
I wouldn't sign up for AT&T if you put a gun to my head. Should be a very short while before you can use the phone on all carriers. LOL.
I really wan tone, but don't want Cingular/ATT. As soon as it's available for Alltel, I'll get one!
Not even remotely interested unless the price drops drastically!
yoyoyo whats up homieizzle. this has been a wierd review but i cant wait till it comes outt yeahhh
What the heck do those people have to do with the launch of the i-Phone?? Stupid.
nope..dont have at@t and or cingular..and dont plan on moving to that provider either. Stupid move for Apple doing a two year deal..I dont know anybody that has At@t.
When can I get and use the new iPhone in Europe and with which provider? OR Can I buy a sim free version?

I have not heard anything regarding iPhone for Latin America, and another question is..... will it be un-blocked?
