450+ Freeware Apps Let You Do Just About Anything

I've long been a fan of this best freeware page, which provides links to dozens of applications designed to let you do just about anything with your computer... for free.

Well my good buddy Roger Hibbert sent me a link to another freeware compiliation, this one featuring a whopping 450 utilities, from security tools to graphics apps to word processing and more. If you have a problem and you want to solve it, gratis, this is a great place to look for a solution.

Some of the tools linked here solve problems that you readers write to me about every day. Among the favorites that I recommend personally:

• YPOPs - Lets you check your Yahoo! Mail account from a POP3 mail reader like Outlook.
• HJ-Split - Lets you split a large file into smaller parts easily (for uploading or emailing).
• Icon Sushi - Lets you create your own custom icons.
• MaxType LITE - Teaches you how to type.
• Tweak UI - Lets you tweak Windows to work a bit better.
• ISO Recorder - Lets you burn ISO images to CD or DVD.
• The entire security section is worth poring over, as is the DVD ripping and burning category.
