Looking for a new TV? Our pals over at eCoustics have put together an exhaustive set of buying tips for plasmas ranging from 42 inches to 60 inches and up.
This page of tips will step you through picking the right size TV based on the size of your room, plus help you understand those baffling TV tech terms, all in plain English. Best of all, the page explains the differences between all those confusing formats: 720p, 1080i, 1080p... and what the resolution of those displays actually are.
Other good tips include teaching you to ignore all those meaningless marketing terms (like "Pure Drive Signal Processing") and setting expectations on how much you should expect to pay for a set based on size and resolution.
This page doesn't go so far as recommending specific sets (though you can get Consumer Reports' top plasmas on this page, and find eCoustics' links to the latest reviews here... and don't forget to check out ConsumerSearch as well). Still, it's a great first step if you're spending your Labor Day weekend hunting for new gear for the living room.
