FBI to Battle Zombie Horde

You may not know that your computer is sending spam, being used as a pawn in coordinated internet attacks, hosting illegal files, or otherwise part of the malware-distribution network known as the zombie horde. Some estimates peg the number of email spams sent each day at around 55 billion, the vast majority of which are sent by infected PCs, usually without any knowledge of it by their owner.

It's all part of what's known as a botnet, giant networks of malware-infected PCs that act as slaves to a master controller via the internet. These PCs, called zombies, are perhaps the biggest security threat on the internet today.

And now the FBI wants to do something about it. How? It's directly contacting a million PC owners to let them know what they ought to have known all along: That their computers are infected and are being hijacked for nefarious uses. The goal is to help track down the source of these infections and put the hackers responsible behind bars. "Operation Bot Roast" (love the name) has already led to the arrest of three scammers.

The feds have offered the same general advice that I do to those infected: Protect yourself against malware and viruses by using the appropriate security tools, and take extra precautions if you find your PC running slowly or sending emails you didn't create (check your Sent Items folder!).

If you all are intrested in the YUpdater.exe exploit, I will be releasing the exploit for all Yahoo! Messenger versions in Security Focus soon in VB6, Delphi, and C++ so look out for it soon. The vulnerabillity allows you to upload any file to your target just by sending one packet to the ID. Look out for it soon.

I really hate those genius who waste their knowledge just by creating viruses and other bad things in the internet. Thats why i'm happy to know that the FBI are getting involve and taking some actions concerning cybercrimes. Even so, FBI would consume many time and effort to locate a criminal, would you think they could track the criminals having the fact that there are millions or billions of internet users? We'll its not bad to try.

We already know that Microsoft's software is leaking like a sieve - no matter what defenders and "all in one care" pretend to offer (for one thing - they all make your computer run extreemly slow to the point that you wonder if the fix is worth then the rememdy. Besides - the whole internet thing supports itself standing upright on a chicken legs...

If people just ran Linux we wouldn't have this problem. Some ware around 90% of the worlds computers run Microsoft Windows, to get rid of the threat we need to do some thing about Microsoft's OS. It's buggy to say the least, Linux is fairly new coming in around 1991 and it's way more stable than Windows. And if not Linux than some sort of Unix, both Linux and Unix have suburb performance in security. I would go with Linux because it's opensource and has a world wide community improving this revolutionary OS. Most Linux distributions are free of charge like ubuntu, Freespire, Opensuse, Fedoracore, Slax, Knoppix, Debian, etc. Linux computer don't contribute by being zombies like Windows. Microsoft need to get with the flow or get shutdown!! :O They need to have better prices , better protection, and some opensource attributes along with a solide community base. So to stop this stuff Windows should get fixed or replaced!! and I hope Bill Gates sees this, I really really do!

Or if people would just take the time to learn linux we wouldn't have to worry about this sort of thing!

Another problem that turned into "Drama"......Just make the public aware of the situation....We should all be asking the maker of the operating systems why they let hackers control behind closed doors.......Oh my god...can they answer that honestly......It creates jobs..a big plus.....what about the telecommunaciation companies that carry the boardband....lets ask them....
