I love TiVo, I really do, but it's getting awfully old. My TV supports High Definition broadcasts. My cable service has an HDTV offering. But the TiVo's the weak link between the two: It only supports standard definition broadcasts, so even if I was using HD service, my picture would only be as good as TiVo can pump out.
Thankfully the weak link gets an upgrade with the Series 3 HD-compatible set-top box.
New features not only include HD-quality video, but also THX-certified audio (the first in a DVR) and dual tuners, so you can record two shows at once. The first Series 3 box will record 32 hours of HD programming or 300 hours of standard-definition TV. As with older TiVos, larger capacities should appear over time.
Now here's the kicker: As with all HD products, the TiVo Series 3 ain't cheap: $800 at introduction, which is slated for "any day now."
I'm anxiously trying to get my hands on one, and I'll offer a full review when that glorious day arrives.

Chris, I have an HD DVR through Dish Network and I love ot. It records 50 hours of HD programming and I am proud that I own it. So, I got tired of waiting around for TiVo to come out with one, so why are you??!!
