While Blu-ray fans have been able to find a few laptops with writable Blu-ray optical drives, we've yet to see a response from the HD-DVD camp. While notebooks with HD-DVD readers have also been available for a while, Toshiba has finally responded with the first domestic laptop carrying a writable HD-DVD drive.

Toshiba will offer the drive as an option in the new Qosmio G45-AV680, the company's high-end multimedia laptop. The drives can burn up to 30GB of data onto a disc. Other features four integrated harman/kardon speakers (plus subwoofer), full 1080p HD quality display (for use with the HD-DVD drive or an external TV tuner), two gigs of RAM, an ultra-bright 17-inch display, and an Nvidia 8600M GT graphics card. Dual hard drives give you 320GB of total storage space.

The bad news: The G45 starts at $3,200, putting it pretty far out of most laptop users' price range.

The war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD may be getting ugly, but it's showing no signs of stopping!

Mr. Null, Please help. I am not to brite when it comes to computers, but i am experiencing problems. First, when i start my computer it takes forever to log in. Second, I had an message that said i had a Trojan Horse virus and my computer could not fix it. Sit may still be in my computer. Third, my computer freezes every time i log in or just play a game. And finally,I only have 4% free space on my hard drive or drive (C), and dont know how to get my free space back. I have an Compaq Evo N400C computer, with 11.2G space. I only have 407Mb free space available. Also, I have Yahoo and AOL on my computer. I hope I explained my problems clearly. I could really use in repairing these problems. AsI mentioned earlier, I am not computer literate just knowing enough to get by.I sincerely hope you can give me some solutions to my problems. Also, we could talk on the phone if it would help. Hope to hear from you soon, Cecil Strong Strongcecil @Yahoo
