Ghost? Zombie? Nixon? Man, these costumes are old news. This Halloween, why not dress up as something from the geek universe? Here's my picks this year for the scary, the provocative, and the outright absurd.
Sony Laptop Battery Pack - What you need: Rectangular piece of cardboard or foam, black paint, a lit cigarette (to simulate the smoking effect). Bonus points for carrying those little poppers that explode when you step on them.
Sony Rootkit-Infected CD - Large circle of cardboard covered in aluminum foil, evil laugh. (Just as scary as the battery.)
LonelyGirl15 (pictured) - What you need: T-shirt or tank top, pony tail scrunchy, tweezers (to pluck eyebrows immaculately), age-diminishing cream, Aliester Crowley books, feather boa, purple monkey puppet, general sense of rebellion and ennui about life.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs - Black turtleneck, blue jeans, iPod, glasses, smug grin.
Firefox - What you need: Fox outfit, lighter fluid, match, sense of irony, fireproofness, legion of geek followers. (Kidding! Please don't set yourself on fire!)
The TRON Guy - Awesome TRON bodysuit, pot belly, no sense of shame.
Former HP Chairman of the Board Patricia Dunn - Liza Minnelli haircut, expensive women's suit, reporter's telephone records that you have no idea how you got, pink slip.

I'm going to Halloween as Tux the penguin, and I wonder how many people will get it..
This article is more like a commentary than actual suggestions for costumes. How about dress up as Microsoft Vista? - bring lots of clothes that you never wear and show up late - very late. Or dress up as the Xbox 360 - bring a black suitcase that gets very hot and when it gets too hot at the party stay completely still and hold up a sign to tell ppl to call technical support. Or dress up as Microsoft Internet Explorer - just come to the party sick with a virus.
Burger king guy mask and a black magician robe and play "bling"
this is about as stupid as it get i thought i would go to it and find some cool ideas but these are real lame and i was dissapointed youd have to be really bored to comeup with these ideas surely hes not getting payed to write this.....is he?
nice im gonna be lonelygirl15 ahahaha
Hilarious! I suppose you really need to be a
Hilarous! I suppose you really do need to be a pretty big tech-head to understand and appreciate these. I can't understand all the negative comments, though, I thought it was pretty cute. Quite a humerous take on all the other 'hot costume' lists I've seen. Good Job!
How about in one of those intel mascots 2 or 3 years back!
For those who say that this is dumb, they don't have a sense of humor or irony.
wow
Dumb, very dumb. So dumb, I forgot to laugh.
the lonelygirl15 is classic.. hahaha i wonder wat bad would want to dress up like her. :]
i feel dumber for having wasted my time reading this.
Wow, finally an article that covers the original aspects of Halloween costumes. How many Darth Vaders, sexy wenches and Harry Potters can you stomach year after year.
Too bad someone can't go as walking computer monitor. Sort of cyborg, but the first wave. If they made a Terminator mask with the underlying circuitry I wouldn't mind that either.
Why is there the youtube gil on here?
STEVEN JOBS!! the easiest job everr
If you're gonna do Tron Guy, though, don't forget the mustache or glasses. They complete the look. Oh, and a dance belt is strongly suggested. I started wearing one not long after the story broke. (Yes, I'm the Tron Guy.)
These are all good but I'm going as a GHOSTBUSTER complete with custon made proton pack with a crapload od flashing LED's wired up like the movie

Well, I thought I was a geek, but this has proved me wrong. I had no idea what half of the stuff was, and the other half, I just didn't find too funny.
