Ghost? Zombie? Nixon? Man, these costumes are old news. This Halloween, why not dress up as something from the geek universe? Here's my picks this year for the scary, the provocative, and the outright absurd.
Sony Laptop Battery Pack - What you need: Rectangular piece of cardboard or foam, black paint, a lit cigarette (to simulate the smoking effect). Bonus points for carrying those little poppers that explode when you step on them.
Sony Rootkit-Infected CD - Large circle of cardboard covered in aluminum foil, evil laugh. (Just as scary as the battery.)
LonelyGirl15 (pictured) - What you need: T-shirt or tank top, pony tail scrunchy, tweezers (to pluck eyebrows immaculately), age-diminishing cream, Aliester Crowley books, feather boa, purple monkey puppet, general sense of rebellion and ennui about life.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs - Black turtleneck, blue jeans, iPod, glasses, smug grin.
Firefox - What you need: Fox outfit, lighter fluid, match, sense of irony, fireproofness, legion of geek followers. (Kidding! Please don't set yourself on fire!)
The TRON Guy - Awesome TRON bodysuit, pot belly, no sense of shame.
Former HP Chairman of the Board Patricia Dunn - Liza Minnelli haircut, expensive women's suit, reporter's telephone records that you have no idea how you got, pink slip.

i thought this was the LAMEST most STUPIDEST article EVER!!!!!
No warcraft references??
Naw Pac-man is perfect. Pac-man being chased by Dinky. Running aroound like that be perfect. I just wish i caould make the costume.
love the house one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
XD I love the Firefox outfit.
This is dumber than the chick on the vonage commerical who thinks the sharks are dolphins
Lol i like ll of them but i think there is one more costume missing Dress as Limewire: Get a big cardboard circle paint it green and and draw four circles then just hung a lime by your neck
Lol i think these costumes aren't funny at all
Hillary Clinton without her makeup. PRetty scary. where is my mommy.
I usually expect a good, quality news artical in the Yahoo news section, so I have no idea how I found this there. Sure, some of the ideas were quite funny, but isn't there a better place for this?
last yer i was a stoplight complete with working lights and i think that should be on this list
what are these people talking about? i'm hardly a geek and i love these... maybe they're missing the sarcastic tones? whatev...this is great...
Well, I think I stick with my Fairy Princess outfit.
Has the criteria for "geekdom" been dummied down? This article certainly lacks imagination and creativity, and is the most unimaginative attempt at costuming I have ever read about. There is so-o-o-o much to draw from out there....come on....you have got to be able to do better than this.
So I am think of the firefox idea, but how does one make oneself fire proof?
I love the people who say the article was a waste of their time, then, continue to "waste" their time writing about it. It was an okay attempt but I was hoping for more practical suggestions.
If you're looking for sarcasm, go as anything dealing with Microsoft, Intel, Google, MySpace, Dell, Best Buy (Geek Squad), etc. If you're wanting a serious geek costume, go as something dealing with AMD, ATI, Newegg (or TigerDirect), jumpdrives, LCD monitor, etc. I'm tempted to make a mouse costume (not the animal) and put a laser pointer in the chest of the suit...I could be a laser mouse...ha ha
LonelyGirl15 is awful...
hahaha--love the sarcasm. this is what i call headline news

...this is all so lame and the Patricia Dunn remark just like plain mean.
