I've posted several times in the last few weeks about wireless data services—not Wi-Fi, but high-speed 3G data services that use the cellular network instead of traditional broadband lines.
The New York Times has an exhaustive survey of the various carriers' data service plans, along with photos of the hardware, hands-on coverage, and in-depth reviews. I've tested all of the services except the one from Sprint, and I tend to concur: Cingular's service is fastest, but you might find fewer coverage gaps with Verizon, which has the broadest network.
If you're interested in shelling out $80 a month to get unlimited data access via your PC pretty much anywhere, without regard for Wi-Fi availability, check this story out!

let me know when they charge below $50 for the service and when they come out with a laptop that can accomodate any broadband carrier set up, maybe then i'll sign up for one.
I have the sprint px-500. It is very impressive. I tested my bandwith at 1300kb/sec max. Not bad. Plus I download music, send files watch videos etc with it. It is a great system. Avery
Which broadband service is better between Verizon Wireless and Sprint?

I have the Verizon version.I got it because I travel in my motorhome(also it is my full time home). As in All cell-phone hook-ups you can loose conection now and then, especially when in a semi-remote area.Nothing worse than holding 2 Aces and the "FLOP"is Ace-KING-ACE and your connection drops(losing 2500.00 because of an inexact science really sucks!)Not as fast as I thought it would be either.All-in-All I rate it as adequite but still needs to improve.
