Philips had an event  in New York this week, showcasing new and prototype home technology products, and if I didn't live 3,000 miles away I totally would have been all over this stuff.

Fortunately, pictures, video, and hands-on impressions are easy to find online. (Here's the official Philips Simplicity site, which features products that are actually available.)

Among the cooler innovations on display:

  • Chameleon - A lamp that changes color in response to any item you hold in front of its sensor. Want a light to match your shirt? Just stand next to the lamp stand and the color will match it instantly.
  • Vision Television - When it's off it's a vertical mirror mounted on the wall. When on, it rotates to landscape mode and adjusts its height automatically, becoming a flat panel TV.
  • Opiduo - Stylish water containers that heat and cool liquid, including an LED that indicates how full the water level is.

Be sure to check out the YouTube video for the personal tour. I'll take one of each, thank you!
