Downloadable Xbox Games Buggy, but Here's a Free Xbox Live Download!

On Tuesday, Microsoft confirmed that it would be launching "Xbox Originals" on December 4, but yesterday noted that consumers shouldn't get their hopes up for a 360-like gaming experience. Five of the seven titles announced, Halo, Fuzion Frenzy, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies, and Fable, are likely to be marred by technical problems from the get-go.

Known issues include low frame rates in Halo and Fuzion Frenzy, flickering in Skies, audio static in Fable, and no 720p support for Psychonauts. Crash Bandicoot and Burnout 3 players may be in luck with no trouble! (Yet.)

But hey, you're downloading a full Xbox 1 game to your console, not a piddly Xbox Arcade title, so expect some kinks in the process for the first few months. Microsoft can always patch titles as they go.

In wholly unrelated news, in celebration of Xbox Live's fifth birthday today, all Live users can download a free game starting now and ending tomorrow (Thursday) at the stroke of midnight. That's right, you've got 40 hours left to download a free game. Alas, you don't get to pick the game: The title you get is Carcassonne, which is a fun offline board game and should translate well to Live. To get it, log in to your dashboard, open the Xbox Live tab, and scroll to the "Free Arcade Offer" option at the bottom of the screen. Have fun!
