This week Casio is rolling out its EX-S10 digital camera, which it claims to be the world's thinnest with 10 megapixels of resolution.

At 15mm thick, it is, indeed, awfully svelte. On paper, the specs range from good to impressive, too: 2.7-inch LCD; 3X optical zoom; sensitivity up to ISO 1600; weighs only four ounces without the battery; available in four colors; and priced at just $250.

A lone sore spot: No image stabilization. I don't know about you, but I've come to rely on image stabilization to rectify my shaky-cam shots and turn blurry, running children into crisp action shots.

The cameras look good, but the proof will be in testing how well it performs at taking actual pictures. (It's impossible to judge based on an LCD preview, of course.) Stay tuned for hands-on coverage after CES wraps!

Call me old fashion but give me the old slr's with the "F" stops an varirable shutter speeds. I have trouble pushing all those small buttons an most of the screens look to much like a contact print which is what I use to use to decide what picture to print!

USA doesn't have to go metric! It's just a little over 1/2 inch thick!

If this is anything like the other recent Casios, there are 600 shooting modes to select from (only one of which you will ever use), no manual modes, badly grainy hi-ISO settings, and weigh a ton because the case is stamped steel. But it will turn on instantly & shoot in less than a second from a cold start.

Bought one yesterday, far from an old fashion 35mm. Took 60 pictures and found half to be blurry, disapointed with the results but the size is incredible. I want the same camera with 6400 iso or more and image stab for clear pictures, question is: how long will I have to wait??

A credit card? It said 15mm, which is a slight bit more than 0.5 inches thick.

More pixels does NOT mean better pictures!!!! 10 Megapixels is such a WASTE! In order to fit a decent number of 10 meg pictures on a typical memory card they compress the heck out of the pictures, and they end up looking like crap anyway. Also that many pixels with a small lens means there's really not enough light for good exposure, and your photos will look grainy. Stick with a 3 to 5 megapixel (native!!!) camera, though they are getting hard to find too, as camera companies push the MYTH that more pixels mean better pictures.

it would be nice to show a photo with a side profile of the "world's thinnest camera". What good is it to see only the front???

When I travel lightly, I carry a point and shoot camera (Canon PowerShot A550) that uses replaceable AA batteries and a SD card that can be purchased anywhere in the world. The proprietary batteries that are found in the thin cameras have to be recharged and can be troublesome and expensive to replace during a trip.

i have the casio exilim S880 it has image stadilization. i think they got their facts wrong. you could buy crappy one from kmart over three years ago with image stabilization so why a wouldent a new top of the line camra have it? fishy?????

Yeah well you forgot the fact that it only 3X optical zoom which is the downfall of most camera makers. What good is it if you cant zoom in on the pics you want most?
