The official apology for this holiday season's extensive Xbox Live outage has finally been determined: All Xbox Gold and Silver Live members, worldwide, are eligible to receive a free copy of the well-reviewed game Undertow. Just login during the download window and it's yours for free.
The only catch is that the window is relatively narrow: Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2am PST through Sunday, Jan. 27, 11:59pm PST. So hop on Live on Wednesday to get it before you forget.
Undertow, an Official Xbox Magazine Editor's Choice winner, normally runs for $10 (or 800 points). It's a shooter that takes place underwater: Various races and upgrades are available. The title features a lengthy single-player campaign plus multi-player support for up to 16 players on Live. More details, a trailer, and screenshots can be found here.
And hey, if you've already purchased Undertow, you're advised to call 1-800-4-MYXBOX and speak to customer support. It's unclear what the company will do for you, but it will probably involve some free points being placed in your account. If anyone already has Undertow and calls Microsoft, please let us know what the outcome is.
