Is that in-line microphone on your wired headset having trouble picking up your voice? Here's a new set of earbuds from Japan that tackles the mike problem using a novel approach: the earbuds themselves are the microphones.

The inCore headset (first spotted by the editors at Crave) picks up your voice from the inside of your ear rather than from your mouth—pretty cool. A five-layer silicone rubber pad attached to the earbuds screens out background noise, making the inCores—in theory, at least—a good choice for cell-phone chatters on busy city streets, crowded lobbies or other noisy settings. The headset is set for release in Japan next month; let's hope someone gets the bright idea to import these babies Stateside.

"The company claims that the technology allows mobile phone conversations "in even very noisy settings like concert halls and construction sites,"" Great, all we need is someone having a cell phone conversation in the middle of a symphony.

Actually, all earbuds can be used as mics. Earphones are built in a way similar to mics. But it doesn't give good voice clarity, etc. But it is handy if you can't find a mic when you need one: just use your iPod's earphones!
