Shocking Joysticks Crank up the Voltage

Remember the scene in "Never Say Never Again" when James Bond and supervillain Maximilian Largo played that deadly video game? The two locked horns in what looked like a high-tech, fast-action version of Risk, and the game delivered brutal electric shocks to the loser (even 007 winced in pain when he lost a round). Well, if you're been itching to challenge your buddies to a battle of the nerves—literally—then try this new gadget on for size.

Unearthed by the bloggers at Ubergizmo, the Shocking Duel Novelty Game ($20) is as simple as they come. You get a pair of electric shock-emitting joysticks, which are each powered by three AAA batteries. The goal? Hold on for as long as you can. The intensity of the shocks increases every five seconds, so it's like playing a geeky version of chicken. Hold on too long, of course, and yours might be a Pyrrhic victory.
