Spy shots: LG enV2 for Verizon Wireless?

Some snapshots of LG's rumored follow-up to the enV music phone have leaked onto the Web, and from the looks of it, the new device looks like a slimmer, more streamlined version of the popular QWERTY clamshell.

Engadget Mobile got its hands on what appear to be press shots of the LG VX9110—a.k.a. the enV2—complete with prominent Verizon Wireless branding. No confirmation from Verizon if the phone actually exists, of course, but the shots look pretty legit.

First impressions: the enV2 (if that's what we're talking about here) looks like a slimmer, pocketable version of the old, bulkier enV. The shell of the phone looks a lot thinner, and the QWERTY keys look like they're packed more closely together, while the internal display looks to be about the same size (the enV's internal LCD was never that big, anyway). I especially like the new outside flip of the phone, which sports a traditional candy-bar style, a good-sized numeric keypad, and a short, squat external display.

No concrete word on features for the purported enV2, although if you look in the top-left corner of the display, you'll see an "EV" icon denoting 3G EV-DO access—so I'm guessing that streaming video and downloadable music are part of the package. Also visible is a microSD slot for memory expansion, and I'd also expect a 2MP (give or take) camera as well.

Overall, it looks like the old LG enV has splintered into to different lines: the larger, touch-screen Voyager for chatters who want all the bells and whistles, and the smaller enV2 for texters looking for a QWERTY phone that'll fit in their pockets. So far, I like what I see, although I'll like it even better if it retails for less than $100 (with a contract, of course).

Make sure to check out Engadget Mobile for the full gallery of leaked shots; meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes peeled for more details.

I just bought two(4/22/08) for $129. really, $179 - $50 rebate. I have been trying to find one online without any success. I wanted to see what price they are going for. You can purchase one from Verizon from customer service.
