Got a hankering to watch endless YouTube videos on your TV? A new (if unofficial) plug-in for Apple TV will let you do just that, provided you don't mind watching low-resolution clips on your jumbo display.

The new plug-in, dubbed "A Series of Tubes," lets you browse the latest and most popular YouTube videos from the Apple TV main menu. Just select a category (such as "Week's Most Viewed" or "Recently Featured Videos"), browse through video thumbnails and descriptions, and then select the clip you want to see; the plug-in downloads the video from YouTube and you're ready to watch. Pretty cool, although (as The Boy Genius Report correctly points out) if you think YouTube videos look muddy on your PC display, just imagine how they'll look on your 42-inch plasma.

"A Series of Tubes" should be available soon, and it's free—but there's a catch. Apple, of course, doesn't officially allow plug-ins on Apple TV, and I suspect that you'd invalidate your warranty by installing third-party software on the device. In other words, use with caution.
