One of the biggest complaints about the PS3 as a Blu-ray player—namely, that it can’t handle the bit-for-bit DTS-HD Master Audio format—is about to be fixed, according to the official PlayStation blog.

When I first purchased my PS3 I was very concerned about this feature being missing. The reality is that it makes no difference at all. The PS3 has always been able to do any conversions localy and send fully uncompressed digital audio out. HDMI is only digital. So unless you think your receiver has a far better algorithm for decompressing (it does not) then this really won't help. It may make you feel better to see DTS-HD audio on your receiver rather than multichannel in, it will sound the same though. In order to ensure you are listening to the uncompressed audio, use the information option that will display the audio stream rate, then choose the audio with the Mbit stream.

So for us non-technical people on here, ok at least for myself. You think you could explain some of the features of the PS3 and the PSP since they are now becoming more and more compatible with each other?
