hey erinshesse- You must not own a Wii (or have played one) because if you did you would know that it certainly has the capability of providing an aerobic workout. If you don't believe me, try Boxing on Wii Sport. It works out your arms while increases your heart rate. Wii Fitness will probably become an excellent tool to lose pounds and increase stamina. Now if they would only create Wii Karate.
just so you know you can actually gain muscle and definition doing something like this...its called isolating the muscle...some fitness and dance methods are based solely on isolation.
haha fat fatties, you tell em, but seriously wii workout worked for me, i lost 176 pounds and gained 176 pounds of muscle, you just can't see it under the little bit of fat i have left
Unlike some of you who CAN run - there are other people like me - who are unable to. But I LOVE the idea of having something help me to do what I can at home. I'm excited about this, and LOVE our Wii. It has been a blast getting my family off the couch and having FUN together. No - it's not the only fun we have. But it's a GREAT thing to have on a rainy night. So those of you who ARE fit and healthy and all that jazz - keep at it. It's great that you have what you want. And for the rest of us - what a great thing we have just been given.
If it is what I think it is... it is like having a personal trainer. Awesome! The price will burn more than my pocket but if the software keeps me busy and focused I can't wait to get it. I want it for myself but also my little brother. He lives on the Wii and if this can give him some excersize between games, and let him know his progress, I am am thrilled. I can't wait to buy it and... get Wii Fit 2! HA HA... which will be more trendy.
Video games are for gaining weight, not losing it! What a joke. If you want your kids off the couch losing weight, throw the darn wii out and tell them to go play outside. As for the adults....you should know better. Exercise is free! Don't waste your money.
Have you ever heard of weight resistance, erinshesse? By just going up and down on your toes you can gain muscle in your calves, your stomach, and in your butt (just name a few places). If you noticed, the article said she "didn't so much lose weight" and that's probably because it's not aerobic, but I'm sure by using the board correctly you are going to increase muscle strength.
My husband and I got lucky and got a Wii game system recently from Wal-mart..We are night shift workers and our nights off we play the Wii system, keeps us from being couch potato's!! And no there is no gym open at 3 or 4 am in our area and its unsafe to jog that time of night too!! Looking forward to more from Wii.!!! including the balance board and Fit games! Go Wii!!! Was worth the money!
That looks sooooo jumb!! It costs $90 buck too! If you're looking for a workout and seriously CAN'T go outside (with this nice weather) or to the gym - then Dance Dance Revolution is the way to lose weight! It's not a hard game and it's got multiple difficulties for people of all weights and exercise capabilities!

Hey wolfe... you lost 176 pounds and gained 176 pounds of muscle? Now that's funny! With a wii? You must weigh 400lbs now.
ARE THERE ANY INTELLIGENT PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ITEM (i.e. nijasonsparks or original reviewer) know if the two pads can be used by someone who has a pace maker?
We live on an American Marine Corps base here in Japan, and we've seen the Fit in action! Its awesome! Whatever you do, it detects your movement! Its increbible! you sit on the floor, the screen shows you sitting on the floor. And everyone seemed to be breaking out in a sweat! I havn't tried it yet myself, since we have an American Wii and it cant read the Japanese Wii games, but Im excited to try it out!
sounds aight
This video has an awesome commercial for the Wii Fit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iYBmAVuBns Pass it on to any of your friends who think they want to buy it!
I use my wii everyday. I had 3 knee replacement surgeries a year ago and they failed, leaving me on crutches for the rest of my life. The wii has been a wonderful form of excercise just playing tennis and bowling, I look forward to the new wii fit to come out. To all of you who have said to get up and go run, I wish that I could.
I think it sounds good. To all of those who have posted that people should just get outside and run, sometimes people have medical conditions that prevent them from regular outdoor activities, and gyms are expensive. These devices can be good alternatives. My husband lost close to 90lbs using the eye toy for the PS2. He responds well to this type of activity and its fun. My daughter also uses it and stays very fit. I plan on getting a Wii Fit for my family as soon as its available.
Considering that most Americans (myself included) have been known to waste $89 on a gym membership that is never utilized, I think this is a rock-bottom price. I agree with erinshesse that it shouldn't be viewed as an alternative to real exercise, but if it gets me off the couch and is fun, its doing a whole lot more than something else I would watch from the couch as I shove popcorn in my face. I'm already sold. Looks cool.
