The upcoming iPhones aren't the only hot handsets sending the rumor mill into overdrive. The much-anticipated, 3G BlackBerry 9000 is whispered to be set for AT&T, although it won't (as we once thought) come with a touchscreen, and it might be delayed until August thanks to...you guessed it, the 3G iPhone.
The last we heard, the 9000 was looking to be RIM's first stab at a touchscreen BlackBerry, but according to the Boy Genius Report (which has been taking the lead in digging up the BlackBerry rumors—nice job, fellas), the new handset will still have a standard—albeit much snazzier-looking—keypad, along with a redesigned black-and-silver shell.
On the plus side, the 9000 will purportedly come with a HVGA (480 by 320-pixel) LCD—a first for a BlackBerry phone—along with support for U.S. HSDPA (3.5G) data networks. Also on tap: Wi-Fi, aGPS, an expansion slot for microSD memory cards, the now-standard BlackBerry trackball, and a two-megapixel camera.
Sounds pretty nice, but the latest word is that AT&T has delayed the planned June launch for the BlackBerry 9000 to August. Why? To make way for the 3G iPhone, which looks almost certain to arrive on AT&T come June.
So, that's the scoop—or the purported scoop, I should say. What do you think—how's the rumored 9000 looking? And what would you rather see launch first: the BlackBerry or the 3G iPhone? [Spy shot courtesy of Boy Genius Report]

Not a surprise but ridiculous. I just bought a 32gb Itouch, because I dont want the Iphone, I love my blackberry. I am actually waiting for the 9000. And i'm sure there are plenty of other people that feel that way, so they should just release both. Then they get the Apple lovers, and Blackberry fanatics all at the same time.

I think both phones look good, but it really shouldn't come as a surprise that AT&T is going to promote their baby over blackberry.
