Disenchanted "Zune Guy" to ditch his tattoo

All he wanted was the ability to transfer videos from the soon-to-be-updated Xbox 360 to his Zune—or at least access the Zune Marketplace from the his console. But Microsoft left him hanging, so buh-bye Zune tattoo.

Engadget reports that a sorely disappointed mszunefan, a.k.a. Steve Smith of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, is promising to replace the Zune logo that he famously had tattooed onto his beefy arm.

Here's his post from the official Zune forum:

I am done. I have had the Zune since day 1 and have noticed little improvement.  I have tried my best to support them every step of the way but the recent Xbox Live announcement at E3 made me lose it. To not include Zune Marketplace or the ability to load videos from Xbox Live to your Zune made me finally give up. I am in the works of figuring the best way to get a new tattoo to cover the logo on my arm. Thanks for all the harsh comments and you will see very little of me anymore.

Ouch. In a follow-up post, Smith says that he "will still buy Zunes" but "might try out some of the competition" before getting the next-gen Zune, when (and if) it arrives.

I've got to say, I'm with Smith when it comes to his disappointment with the slated Xbox 360 fall update vis-à-vis the Zune. Why can't you transferred rented Xbox Live movies to the Zune, given that it has a roomy display and a solid video player? And integrating the Zune Marketplace into the 360 seems like a no-brainer.

So, anyone else had enough? Who's keeping the Zune faiith? And any ideas for Smith's replacement tattoo?

Actually, if he used a heavy ink, that could probably be replaced by a small duck. It has the same general shape.

well, I have had no problems with Apple at all, so I don't see what you are talking about. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like Zune or Windows to begin with.

Thanks for the article, I already have a few plans for the cover up tattoo. Also explain me this, why can the PS3 allow you to wifi stream your media files to your PSP but the Xbox 360 can not allow you to download a game trailer, or a tv show and allow the same. The PS3 can find my video files and audio files in just about any format, but the 360 can't do the same unless you have it on a removable harddrive or using media center. Microsoft is ----- up and I am done. Thanks

Sounds like Patterson is looking in the gutter for negative Zune news. This guy was famous for 15 minutes. He got this tat when Zune came out. And when people started talking to him, They realized he was a loser looking for fame. He even said he was going to change his name to Zune. So now that he pretty much has been put on everyones ignore list, He's changing his mind because of something that Zune has never done in 2 years. Please..you apple fans can have this guy.

I love my G1 Zune. The screen is nice, the program is easy and doesn't change the format of all my music to work. Sturdy little piece of hardware too. I don't see any issues.
