Didn't we just get a new Treo? Maybe so, but it appears Palm has yet another model teed up, and it's a head turner. Too bad it's still saddled with Windows Mobile.
We already saw spy shots of the Treo 850 back in May, and now Gizmodo (via WM Experts) has a fresh set, along with a new name for the long-rumored handset: the Treo Pro.
From the looks of it, we're talking the same basic Centro design here, except a bit slimmer and boasting a cool, "X"-shaped design on the front face of the phone. The circular Call and End buttons are also new, and as Gizmodo notes, the Pro's keypad looks a bit roomier than the Centro or the recently released Treo 800w.
Pretty nice—unfortunately (well, unfortunate from my perspective, at least), the Pro still appears to be running the tricky Windows Mobile OS, which isn't exactly my favorite mobile platform. Indeed, we're still waiting for Palm to release a phone with its still-brewing, Linux-based OS, code-named Nova.
PC World confirms most of the specs we'd heard back in May: specifically a 2.4-inch, 320 by 320-pixel display (the same resolution as on the 800w), along with Wi-Fi, a two-megapixel camera, a 400MHz processor with 100MB of RAM, microSD memory expansion, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. No word on GPS, although I'd hope so, given that the 800w comes with GPS capabilities.
Still no word on pricing or a release date—and no official announcement from Palm, for that matter—but given that a Flash presentation for the Pro accidentally went live on Palm's Web site earlier this week, I'm betting on sooner rather than later.

I heard that windows mobile 6 is pretty good.
People hate on Windows Mobile because it's really that terrible. Palm OS phones work great, but the software could use freshening.
actually my 1st smartphone was palm os and now i used a windows mobile version and i believe that windows mobile is much better then palm, but i guess it is how you think about the software
