"Slacker Uprising," a documentary chronicling Moore's 62-city tour of the U.S. in the run-up to the 2004 presidential election, is out now—on the Web, that is, and it's free for residents of the U.S. and Canada.
This actually isn't the first time a feature-length film ("Slacker Uprising" clocks in at about 100 minutes) has debuted online—the Ed Burns-directed
"Purple Violets" hit iTunes in late 2007, while
"Jackass 2.5" bowed on the Web last December.
That said, "Slacker Uprising" (formerly known as "Captain Mike Across America"),
available right here, is both ad-free and dollar-free ("Purple Violets" cost $14.99, while "Jackass 2.5" was ad-supported).
And maybe that's for the best, given the reviews:
Variety, for example, calls "Slacker Uprising" a "repetitious and self-indulgent hodgepodge [that] comes across as a nostalgia-drenched vanity project, with far too much footage of various celebs at assorted gatherings introing Moore as the greatest thing since sliced bread." Ouch.
Salon wasn't much happier, slamming the movie as "a shameless act of self-promotion even for a shameless self-promoter like Moore." Well ... hey, it's free, right?
Anyway, if you're game for more Michael Moore action, the movie is available in several formats: You can stream it online via the "Slacker Uprising" Web site or Amazon Video on Demand, download it over iTunes (an HD version is available for Apple TV users), or grab it on BitTorrent.

I'm not sure how a story about an anti-American, Anti-capitalist left wing propagandist is tech news. Perhaps Ben is in favor of changing the Pledge of Allegiance as Michael Moore is. ______ All I can say is news must be slow to use this yahoo blog to highlight a man who purposely deceives others for money!
