Here's an oldie but goodie that's been making the rounds for years now, but every time a friend, co-worker, or loved one forwards it to me—like yesterday, for example—it feels new all over again.
REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public next month.
REMINDER.... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls.
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222 .. It is the National DO NOT CALL list . It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS... It takes about 20 seconds.

I have been receiving a lot of cvall from promoters and people wanting me to apply for credit and loans. I never received nor applied to any of these comapnies for their information, I have posted my cell phone number on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and been told by the companies that it does apply to them, but after reporting them - I have NOT received their calls again.
I received this today and I'm curious if anyone has called the number given in the email and who's number it is.
hahahaha! i just got this email from a friend, and she of course sent it to numerous people. It's funny that the email highlighted the "Cell phone numbers go public next month" section. I searched on it and got this article. I sent out a quick reply warning everyone, but of course it's too late, they already started calling it. If you don't see it in the newspaper or on the nightly news, chances are it's a scam, people!
So..that is circulating again the email..did or are they this month..if so will it just be telemarketiers? or for all the public?
Your mother in law must be in the same e-mail circle as my mother. I get this foolish e-mail from my mother at least 3 times a year. You would think she would remember sending it before. Not to mention you would think she would remember my replies with links to 3-4 sites proving that the e-mail is a hoax.... Why do people continue to forward this crap? You're on the internet for goodness sakes, look it up to see if it's legit first!!!
Like a bozo I did call the # and it did seem lajit. If it is not what was the # for just to see if people are dumb enough to call or where does it go from there?
Thanks for the posting--I just got a message about this on facebook and wanted to make sure that it was false. Just the thought of unsolicited calls made me panic for a second:)
I'd suggest that if telemarketers somehow get your cell number call your provider and get a new number - I had to do that once. Cost me fiftenn bucks but so what. The only numbers a I got afterward were a few friends of the previous owner of the number who didn't realize she no longer had that number anymore; After I politely told them they had the wrong number I never have got anymore unknown callers.
People just don't seem to understand this is how viruses get around. And, if you 20 thousand people calling that 888 number, the scamers will make a butt-load of money on just frantic people calling in from their cellulars!
ive had cell phones for the past 6 years and i have never gotten a solicitor guess i'm just lucky :D

The Do Not Call list is a joke! I am being harassed by an outfit in Florida called "Credit Services" about lowering my credit card rate (I don't owe anything on credit cards). They call about twice a week and no matter how many times I tell them that I am on the Do Not Call list the calls keep coming. I have complained on the Do Not Call registry many times and nothing is done. Telemarketers know this so they disregard it. Reporting these calls is a waste of time!
