Comcast draws flag for hard-core Super Bowl flub

Tucson-area Comcast subscribers—and their kids—got a XXX-rated surprise Sunday, just moments after Cardinals superstar Larry Fitzgerald scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

As the AP and CrunchGear report, viewers of Comcast's standard-definition feed of KVOA-TV in Tucson, Arizona, had just witnessed Fitzgerald streak into the Steelers' end zone for a lead-snatching TD, when suddenly, well … they got an eyeful of an entirely different sort.

And I'm not talking a PG-13 Victoria's Secret clip, either—nope, more like … how do I put this: a 10-second, full-frontal "wardrobe malfunction," of the male variety.

Of course, plenty of "irate" football fans called in to complain, according to the AP, which also quotes a viewer who said he "couldn't believe" what he was seeing—"and I couldn't believe that my children were watching it either." (No doubt.)

Now, of course, the finger pointing has begun. KVOA-TV told the AP that there wasn't anything wrong with its over-the-air Super Bowl feed, nor with the feed that it transmitted to Comcast. Meanwhile, Tucsson-area Comcast competitor Cox said its Super Bowl presentation was, ah, porn-free.

As for Comcast … well, a spokesman confirmed to the AP that its standard-def feed "was interrupted" during the game, and that "engineers were investigating." Apparently, Comcast's HD feed wasn't affected (phew).

My suggestion for Comcast: Maybe a one-day refund is in order, along with a "no more porn during the Super Bowl" pledge. Just a thought.

Update: Comcast now suspects "foul play" in Sunday's racy indicident and is "working on a plan to compensate customers," according to the Arizona Daily Star.

And you thought Janet Jackson was bad. So much for "family friendly" Superbowls.
