Wring More Juice out of Your iPod Video

Watching movies and TV shows on your iPod is a great way to pass the time on those long-haul flights or interminable road trips—that is, until your trusty companion craps out at the five- (or more likely, three- to four-) hour mark. If you're not lucky enough to have a power outlet nearby (and unless you're flying first class, you're probably out of luck), a booster battery pack is probably your best bet.

My fellow advisors have already written about some of the iPod battery packs available, and here's another one that just came down the pipe. Designed specifically for video iPods, the roughly iPod-sized NuPower Video+ snaps onto your player like a backpack and—according to the manufacturer, at least—gives you up to 16 hours of video playback, 80 hours of music, or three full charges of a switched-off iPod. The four-ounce battery pack also acts as a stand, although from the looks of the Video+, your iPod might easily tip over if you hit any bumps in the road. The Video+ is available now for $50.
