Watching movies and TV shows on your iPod is a great way to pass the time on those long-haul flights or interminable road tripsthat is, until your trusty companion craps out at the five- (or more likely, three- to four-) hour mark. If you're not lucky enough to have a power outlet nearby (and unless you're flying first class, you're probably out of luck), a booster battery pack is probably your best bet.

My fellow advisors have already written about some of the iPod battery packs available, and here's another one that just came down the pipe. Designed specifically for video iPods, the roughly iPod-sized NuPower Video+ snaps onto your player like a backpack andaccording to the manufacturer, at leastgives you up to 16 hours of video playback, 80 hours of music, or three full charges of a switched-off iPod. The four-ounce battery pack also acts as a stand, although from the looks of the Video+, your iPod might easily tip over if you hit any bumps in the road. The Video+ is available now for $50.

Wow, I wish I would have known about this a month ago. My battery died, and I thought I was going to die right along with it. I use that thing more than my cell phone. I ended needing to purchase a new battery because I was getting three hours max out of the old one. The above products sound great, but if your battery is completely dead, I found this great site with sweet batteries along with replacement kits . They were at a great price and they even last quite a bit longer than the original Apple batteries did. I'll definitly have to keep your blog in mind next time my battery gets low.

The link in the comment above didn't work like I thought it might. The website is ipodjuice.com.
