Who'd want a 20GB version of the PlayStation 3? Not many, apparently. After a number of big U.S. retailers stopped carrying the lower-end version of the troubled console, Sony reps have come out and officially disowned the little brother of the 60GB PS3.

According to gaming blog Game Stooge, the 60GB version of Sony's flagship console outsold the 20GB model by a factor of 10-to-1, and it's not hard to see why. Besides having a hard drive that's only a third the size of the premium console, the 20GB PS3 lacks such essentials as built-in Wi-Fi and a memory card reader, and it's not like you're saving a lot of dough in the bargain; at $499, the 20GB console is a mere $100 less than the 60GB PlayStation 3. While Sony initially insisted that it would continue selling the 20GB model in the U.S., the company tipped its hand last month when it shipped only the 60GB version in Europe.
