Verizon's been teasing us for days with those "iDon't" TV ads—you know, "iDon't take night shots," "iDon't customize," "iDon't allow open development")—and now we're seeing reports of printed flyers advertising a mysterious touchsceen gadget, complete with a scary glowing eye and stamped with a "Droid Does" logo. What gives?
Meanwhile, Verizon's teaser site for Droid promises "Directions," "Video," "Tunes," "10,000 apps," "The Network" (as in "America's Fastest Network," no doubt), and a "5MP" camera.
OK, but what about pricing and release dates? Well, there's no word on pricing quite yet, although given that Verizon is taking aim at the iPhone in its "iDon't" ads, I'd expect a price tag in the $199 range. Meanwhile, TechCrunch is pegging November 6 or 7 as possible release dates.
And as for the printed Droid flyers that Engadget Mobile got its hands on, the ones with the red glowing eye? One word: scary.

Update: In my original post, I speculated that the Droid would come with support for Motorola's new MotoBlur service (which pushes a stream of social-networking updates to your phone's home screen, among other features); unfortunately, word is that's not the case (although the rumored Moto Calgary might be a Blur phone). Bummer.

sigh, I've been waiting for Verizon to get the TP2 in stock (what's up with them?), but maybe I'll just wait a bit longer. I really do want WM though, and haven't tried out android.
The MotoBlur would have me sold. But since it won't come with it, I'll pass it up.
I will not suport google . there EULAs are a mess and Google is getting to big for there own good like MS did in the 90's that said I am not impresed by the Iphone . No DEFAULT printing support NO Linux suport .. the list goes on. oh and there is no way i will use Ma- Bell again .. I have a centro that does everything I want it to ,,,
The phone description capabilities and features are so far lame and limited compared to the IPhone. The music only is offered by now from Amazon, and MP3 music store and other music supports from Google, but is unable to provide info for Video player, is not support .avi or mpeg, mp4 or other format that make the fight of comparison with the IPhone. At this moment is only a fez applications is promoted at the website, When they upgrade the software with the video player and the plash player support for the browser (expected 1st half 2010). Until then, will give me more reason to change to this phone with the superior network of CDMA (only in US).

I got to say: I'm on Verizon, but I'm an Apple geek. I'm in a dilema here. I want an iPhone, but I'm not willing to switch to AT&T's shotty coverage to get it. Heck, I was just waiting for the iPhone to come to Verizon, but with this going on, it looks like that's never going to happen; Steve Jobs has a long memory.
